When Your TBR Pile is Long and Time is Short
How to choose which book to read next
I am a sucker for books. Good books, trashy books, just books in general (though let’s be honest, mostly fantasy). I can’t leave a charity shop without a book or two, and my favourite thing my husband says when we’re out and about is “why don’t we stop in at the bookshop”. As a result my TBR (to be read) pile is in actuality full two shelves of an already overcrowded bookcase and there never seems to quite be enough time for me to read them.
This brings with it the challenge of figuring out what to read first. It’s a fun challenge, to be sure, but it’s hard when I really want to start Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archives but I also got my hands on the one Garth Nix novella, To Hold The Bridge, that I haven’t read yet. I have some fun reference books, vintage scifi, and indie comedy sitting there too and I’m forced to make a choice — where do I start when I have more books than time?
Change it up a little
We all have specific things we like — particular authors, certain genres — which is not a bad thing, but you can find yourself reading books about the same thing, told by the same people.
