Video Games Can Kill Me
I’ll keep deriving nihilistic happiness from the joystick of life
I’ll admit, I started this article as a complete knee-jerk reaction to reading the one linked below. I love video games. By serious gamer standards I’m not much of a gamer, but by general societal standards I do play a lot of games especially if you include things like playing match-threes on my phone during my work commute.
Reading this post made me angry. I am sick and tired of one of my favourite hobbies being bandied about as being a terrible thing that’s bad for you, complete with a condescending attitude. Have a read if you want a bit more context to everything I’m going to say, but really it’s same old, same old. Though this time with the added conflation of multiple research sources telling us all the ways video games are bad…while not acknowledging that each source cited was only investigating a single aspect and they really can’t all be considered valid when taken together.
